Customers have a 45 day grace period to purchase an extended warranty plan after their Surface purchase.

Yes. All Surface in-box and stand-alone accessories are covered by a one year standard warranty except the Wedge Mouse which is covered up to three years. Surface Type Covers also have a one-year standard warranty.

You check your warranty at https://mybusinessservice.surface.com/en-NZ/pages/welcome.aspx by clicking on “Confirm your Device Serial Number/Check Warranty” and entering a device serial number.

Surface Pro models
To find the serial number on your Surface Pro, flip out the kickstand and look for the 12-digit string of numbers near its base. The serial number will look like this: XXXXXXXXXXXX.

Surface Book
The serial number for your Surface Book is on the bottom edge of the Clipboard where it attaches to the keyboard.

Surface Laptop
The serial number for Surface Laptop is on the bottom center near the hinge.

Surface Studio
The serial number for Surface Studio is located on the bottom of the base.

For customers with an Extended Warranty with NDB Replacement, when your replacement device arrives, there will be a return courier label included in the package. Once your parcel with the confirmed faulty Surface Pro or Surface is ready to send with the provided courier label, please contact Courier Post on 0800 268 743 to arrange a suitable pick up time.

After October 1st 2017, all extended warranties for Surface Pro (2017) and Surface Laptop will include NBD Replacement. Extended Warranty without NBD Replacement is only available for Surface Studio and Surface Book.

We recommend you try some diagnostic tests to see if the issue you are experiencing is with the hardware on your Surface device. Please follow this link to download the Microsoft Surface Diagnostic Toolkit. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=46703 and click the download button. Select SurfaceDiagnosticToolkit_v1.1.50.0.zip, then Next.

You may select test for the specific components you wish to test, or to run all tests.
